If Only I Had My Camera

Last night I wanted to make my mom a real dinner while she was in town visiting. So I made Greek green beans, roasted potatoes and grilled tarragon steak. It was a hit. My mom appreciated a meal where every thing wasn't fried or that didn't look like a distant mountain peak in winter. And I'm pretty sure for the first time ever Michael ate his entire portion of red meat. Seriously, whoa. Michael has become a very picky eater. He gets it from his father. But yeah, I think I found one tiny piece of steak on his little plate while I was feeding Meghan his leftover green beans. And Meghan. . . She could not get enough of the green beans. I set her at the table and let her feed her self. At first I was skeptical though. Before I had tried steaming fresh green beans and pureed them. Nope, after the most disgusted face that she could muster, she wouldn't eat them. And she wouldn't have any of the jarred baby food green beans. But apparently she likes her green beans with tomatoes. Anyhow, due to her feeding herself she had green beans everywhere, and her face had turned orange. I wish I had taken a picture to show Josh. I even found green bean pieces in her onsie.

On a separate note, what goes on in a toddler's mind that makes them aware of desperation and urgency? I have never begged my child for anything, and I don't believe that I have taught him how to beg. But he will beg for help. It's so cute and pathetic. But he will just reach out to me and call out for help. And he will continue to beg for help. Is this an attention issue? I love that he is showing me that he wants and needs me. I just don't want there to be any underlying issues that are a result of my maybe less than mediocre parenting. Most of me thinks its just a game. And I like playing it. . . Most of the time.

There are FAR too many times I used to wish I had a camera nearby- now I ALWAYS have it out... just for that exact reason.

I found you off VB and I just wanted you to know that I nominated you for an award. You can check it out @ http://confessionsfromboystown.blogspot.com/2011/07/butterfly-award.html.

Also, I wanted to highlight you and your blog in a future post for a section I do on mine called 'Saturday Shout-outs'. Each week I highlight a great writer- like yourself. My hope is that it will not only bring more readership to both of our blogs, but that we can learn a little more about each other.

If you're interested, please email me at asoto0703 at gmail.com.

Talk to you soon!

Don't worry too much...I guess, all kids are like that but as they grow old you can help them to be independent.

When my kids were growing, I didn't have a cam too and I missed a lot of their milestones. They're all in my memory though :-)
